With Ratcliffe’s substantial financial backing, there’s growing speculation about the caliber of players Ten Hag could target in the upcoming summer transfer window, benefiting from the owner’s financial prowess without running afoul of Financial Fair Play regulations, as per the Evening Standard. However, the winter window is expected to be relatively subdued for the Red Devils.

Ratcliffe, along with the INEOS team, is determined to revolutionize football operations at Man Utd, aiming for consistent contention for major trophies. A comprehensive list of potential signings has already been drawn up, revealing the stakeholder’s strong desire to elevate the club’s status.

The latest report suggests Ratcliffe is content with Hojlund’s progress but envisions further improvement. The primary focus is on securing a top-tier goal scorer to partner with the 20-year-old forward. While the report alludes to a striker of Harry Kane’s caliber, the specific player remains undisclosed.

Among the potential options is former Real Madrid star Karim Benzema, with rumors circulating about a possible loan move from Al Ittihad.

In addition to a new centre-forward, Ratcliffe wants to revitalise Ten Hag’s squad by landing a new No 8, centre-half and right-back.

Out of those three positions, Man Utd have done the most groundwork for signing a new centre-back. They have held initial talks with Ratcliffe’s other club, Nice, over the possibility of signing Jean-Clair Todibo. Other targets include Lille’s young defender Leny Yoro and Antonio Silva of Benfica.

Whichever centre-back arrives at Man Utd in the summer, they will likely replace Raphael Varane. He has been heavily linked with a switch to Saudi Arabia after being left frustrated by Ten Hag’s decision to select Harry Maguire ahead of him when both players are fit.

Should Man Utd bolster all four positions in the summer, then their spending could surpass the £200m mark. After all, it will be tough to sign an elite striker for less than £80m in the current market, while Nice are holding out for around £50m for Todibo.

As Ratcliffe shapes his vision for Man Utd’s future, the prospect of a marquee signing has ignited anticipation among fans eager to witness the club’s resurgence under the new ownership
