According to emerging reports, Everton’s midfielder Amadou Onana seems confident about a potential move to a top ‘big six’ club amid intense discussions with Arsenal.

Since his move from Lille in 2022, Onana has thrived at Everton, establishing himself as a significant presence in the Premier League.

Despite earlier links with Manchester United during the summer that didn’t come to fruition, the 22-year-old midfielder has blossomed under Sean Dyche’s tutelage, featuring prominently in 21 games and scoring twice.

Reports indicate that Onana’s stellar performances haven’t gone unnoticed by Arsenal, with sources suggesting that the North London club is actively pursuing the possibility of securing his services, engaging in discussions at an ‘intensive’ level.

While Everton values the Belgian midfielder at £50 million, and Onana’s contract extends until 2027, Arsenal remains optimistic about navigating negotiations, potentially leveraging Everton’s current financial situation to reach a feasible agreement on the transfer fee.

Should Onana make the switch to the Emirates, the youngster is not concerned about the pressure which could mount on his shoulders.

Speaking in November last year, after the United links, he toldTransfermarkt: “I am truly convinced that there are no upper limits for me.

“That doesn’t mean to sound arrogant. But I believe in my abilities and that I can come to a top club and become a regular player there.”

If he was to move to Arsenal, there is no set idea on where he would feature. One working hypothesis is for Onana to drop into defensive midfield allowing Declan Rice to move further forward.
