In a surprising twist as the transfer window winds down, Wolverhampton Wanderers are rumored to be setting their sights on Leicester City’s striker, Kelechi Iheanacho.

The lead-up to the 23/24 season has been less than ideal for Wolves. The departure of key players like Ruben Neves, Nathan Collins, Raul Jimenez, and Conor Coady along with the loss of manager Julen Lopetegui have posed challenges.

Under the leadership of new manager Gary O’Neil, they put up a commendable performance against Manchester United, although they ended up on the losing side.

A subsequent clash with Brighton left them battered, but they managed to secure a hard-fought victory of 1-0 against Everton over the weekend.

Sources from talkSPORT suggest that the club is contemplating a move for the 26-year-old Nigerian international, with Leicester City purportedly valuing him at £20 million.

Kelechi Iheanacho‘s journey in football started with Taye Academy before he made a move to Manchester City’s academy in 2014.

His senior debut for City came in 2015, and during his two-year stint with the club, he made his mark with 64 appearances across various competitions, finding the back of the net 21 times.

His contributions didn’t go unnoticed, as he played a pivotal part in Leicester’s victories in the FA Cup and the FA Community Shield.

Addressing Iheanacho’s potential future with the club, Leicester manager Enzo Maresca hinted at the possibility of a new contract offer.

He acknowledged the delicate balance between the club’s interests and the player’s desires, stating, “This is one of the things on the table. It’s one of the things we need to discuss with the player. Most of the time we think about the club, but we need to see the desire of the player.”

Maresca emphasized the value of players like Iheanacho who can make an impact coming off the bench, highlighting his recent strong performances: “Kele played against Coventry, very good. He played the other day, goal, assist. It’s one of the things I said from day one that to realize something important, you need players who are out on the bench but when they go inside, they are a boost for the team.”

As the transfer window countdown continues, the potential move of Kelechi Iheanacho to Wolves adds a layer of intrigue to the evolving landscape of football transfers.
