Mason Greenwood Opens Up About His Man Utd Future After Call From Jose Mourinho's Call

Manchester United star, Mason Greenwood reportedly holds doubts about receiving a fresh opportunity at Old Trafford, as per recent reports.

However, the young forward has been thrown a lifeline by his former manager Jose Mourinho who is allegedly prepared to secure Greenwood’s services on loan at AS Roma.

Greenwood’s last appearance for Manchester United dates back to a Premier League encounter against West Ham in January 2022. Subsequently, he faced serious allegations of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behavior, and assault.

However, those charges were dropped in February, with the Crown Prosecution Service citing the withdrawal of key witnesses and the emergence of new evidence as the reasons behind the decision.

While United conducted their internal investigation into the matter, the 13-time Premier League champions have not yet reintegrated Greenwood into the squad or determined his future at the Theatre of Dreams.

Speculation suggests that the talented 21-year-old may revive his career through a loan spell before returning to United. In this regard, a potential move to Italy has surfaced.

According to The Sun, Greenwood received a call from Mourinho, offering him a second chance if his current club decides to send him out on loan or even terminate his contract altogether.

A source close to the matter revealed, “Jose rang Mason’s dad and also spoke with Mason. He told him the best way out of his current situation is to start playing football – and that eventually all the hassle will fade away.”

The source further added, “Mason was pleased that he got in touch and it has lifted his spirits. He wants to get back playing and is just waiting for United to tell him what the future holds.”

It is worth noting that Mourinho holds a special connection with Greenwood, having handpicked the young forward to join Manchester United’s 2018 pre-season tour of the United States when he was just 16 years old.
