Man Utd Transfer On Brink of Collapse as Ten Hag’s Indecision Complicates Matters

The pursuit of a crucial transfer target by Manchester United hangs in the balance as Erik ten Hag’s hesitancy has prompted the club to explore alternative options according to reports.
ESPN recently highlighted the obstacles faced by Man Utd in the summer transfer window due to mistakes made by the previous management regime.
Ten Hag has set his sights on three key signings, with Andre Onana, Mason Mount, and Harry Kane topping his wishlist.
However, financial constraints make it challenging to secure all three targets, especially considering that Mount is valued at £60 million and Inter Milan demands upwards of €50 million for Onana. As a result, there might not be enough funds left to pursue a high-profile striker.
The current situation stems from questionable decisions made during Ed Woodward’s tenure. For instance, making David de Gea the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world on a weekly salary of £375,000 and splashing out £73 million on Jadon Sancho without facing significant competition were cited as prime examples of misguided choices.
Consequently, Sancho and fellow England international Harry Maguire are reportedly available for sale.
If they are offloaded, alongside the potential departures of Dean Henderson, Alex Telles, Eric Bailly, and Anthony Martial, among others, Ten Hag’s transfer budget would receive a significant boost.

Henderson, 26, has emerged as a concrete target for Nottingham Forest, where he spent last season on loan. talkSPORT previously reported in early June that a permanent move was in an advanced stage, but updates on the transfer have since gone quiet.
A fresh report from Football Insider sheds light on the situation, explaining why Henderson’s move to Forest is now in serious jeopardy.
The uncertainty surrounding David de Gea’s future has reportedly led Manchester United to put a halt on any potential goalkeeper departures.
Tom Heaton has also expressed a desire to leave in search of regular playing time, with newly-promoted Luton Town being linked as a possible destination. However, Ten Hag has blocked Heaton’s departure, according to The Telegraph.

The same predicament appears to affect Henderson’s potential move, with Football Insider reporting that Forest may be on the verge of terminating the transfer, which has reached a stalemate.
Forest are said to be considering alternative targets as a result. In essence, Manchester United is unwilling to allow any goalkeepers to leave while the uncertainty surrounding De Gea’s situation persists.
De Gea, 32, saw his United contract expire at midnight last night. A move for Inter’s Onana has been heavily rumored, but Ten Hag has yet to sever ties with De Gea completely, as reported by The Independent.
The club is reportedly set to continue contract talks with the Spanish goalkeeper, despite it being widely known that De Gea’s limitations in possession do not align with Ten Hag’s preferences.

Last week, The Athletic revealed that De Gea had agreed to a new contract with United on reduced terms, only for the club to refuse to sign their own document.
Instead, they presented a revised offer with even lower terms, which De Gea did not accept. As a result, De Gea is now a free agent, but both Ten Hag and Manchester United have yet to decide whether to persist with him or explore other options.
With the De Gea saga dragging on, Nottingham Forest’s attempts to sign Henderson on a permanent basis and potentially boost Manchester United’s transfer budget now face uncertainty.
The situation hangs under a dark cloud as the future of the transfer remains uncertain.
