Marcus Rashford Slammed as “Pathetic” after Man Utd error in Nottingham Forest win

Manchester United faced an early setback in their clash against Nottingham Forest, with Marcus Rashford defensive shortcomings facing harsh criticism after a rough start.
In just four minutes, Erik ten Hag’s side found themselves trailing 2-0, courtesy of Taiwo Awoniyi, who extended his scoring streak to seven games, and Willy Boly.
However, it was the first goal that placed Marcus Rashford under intense scrutiny for his defensive lapse.
Former West Ham striker Dean Aston didn’t mince words as he voiced his frustration on talkSPORT, saying, “Disastrous start for United. That is the one player you don’t want it to fall to. He would’ve loved to see Rashford there. He just shrugged him aside! Marcus Rashford, I’m sorry, that was pathetic defending. You had the chance to tackle and it was a pathetic effort.”

Rashford managed to redeem himself before halftime, playing a pivotal role in United’s comeback. He outpaced former Tottenham defender Serge Aurier and provided the assist to Christian Eriksen, who found the net.
This marked Eriksen’s first goal of the season, his first since a Carabao Cup win against Burnley in December.
Eriksen commended Rashford’s performance in the aftermath of the match, stating, “He’s very confident. You can see that in the games, he is looking sharp and really on it. He looks like he is going to create something or he’s going to score something every time.”
Manchester United swiftly leveled the score in the second half through Casemiro, who capitalized on Bruno Fernandes’ pass.

As the game progressed, Forest’s fortunes took a turn for the worse. Joe Worrall received a red card for a last-man challenge, and Rashford was fouled by Danilo in the penalty area, allowing Fernandes to convert from the spot and secure three points for Ten Hag’s team.
Following their encounter with Nottingham Forest, Manchester United have one more fixture before the first international break of the season.
They are set to face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in a high-stakes showdown next weekend.
