Erik Ten Hag Gives Update After Christian Eriksen Left Old Trafford On Crutches Against Reading

Manchester United boss, Erik Ten Hag has given an update on the injury sustained by Christian Eriksen on Saturday night in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Reading in the FA Cup after he was seen leaving Old Trafford on crutches.
The Danish midfielder was on the wrong end of a hefty challenge from Andy Carroll early in the second half.
Carroll lost the ball with a heavy touch and, in a desperate attempt to win possession back, wiped out Eriksen.
Eriksen was in some pain and needed to be substituted. Eriksen was replaced by fellow midfielder Fred who came on to score our third goal in the match, in the 57th minute.

Carroll was later dismissed for two bookable offences.
“It’s always difficult to say in this moment so short after the game has finished,” Ten Hag said during his post-match press conference.
“But it’s an ankle [problem]. We have to see what is the diagnosis, so it costs us a minimum of 24 hours before we know that and then I can say more.”
Eriksen is now a major doubt for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest. With a 3-0 win from the first leg, the midfielder may have been rested anyway, but United have Premier League games against Crystal Palace and Leeds to think about too.

Eriksen has been a key player for Ten Hag since signing in the summer on a free transfer following a spell at Brentford. The 30-year-old has made 30 appearances this season, contributing two goals and nine assists in all competitions.
He has often been preferred to Fred and Scott McTominay in midfield, alongside Casemiro, who was the star of the show against Reading.
