Chelsea Make Interesting Offer To Luis Enrique To Replace Graham Potter

Chelsea have made an offer to ex-Spain manager Luis Enrique to replaceGraham Potteraccording to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito.

The pressure is slowly building on Chelsea manager Graham Potter after his side was humiliated to a 4- 0 defeat by Manchester City on Saturday in FA Cup clash.

The deal being offered byChelseais a three-year deal worth €12m net per season.

Atletico Madrid are also interested in Enrique after he stepped down from his role as Spain’s manager after the World Cup.

Enrique comes with a bag full of experience at the highest level. The Spaniard led Barcelona to their last Champions League title back in 2015.

However, credible reports suggest that Chelsea will not pull the plug on Potter until next season regardless of how bad things get.

Todd Boehly made the decision to sack Thomas Tuchel very abruptly after Chelsea entered some poor form, although it is understood there was a breakdown in their working relationship prior to that, but the American could do the same to Potter.

With that said, here are other four possible managers Chelsea could appoint if Potter departs apart from Enrique:

This appointment for Chelsea would likely make a lot of Spurs fans feel uncomfortable, but it’s happened twice the other way round, with Jose Mourinho and current Spurs boss Antonio Conte managing in north London after finding success at Stamford Bridge, so there’s no reason why it can’t go the reverse way.

Pochettino has been out of management since the summer of 2022 when he was dismissed by PSG, he was then heavily linked with a return to Spurs after Mourinho’s departure and just months later when Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked by the club.

The Argentine built a wonderful squad at Tottenham throughout his five years at the club, although they ultimately fell short at big moments, losing in the Champions League final to Liverpool in his last season, but he could certainly be an exciting appointment for Chelsea with significant knowledge of the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers

Chelsea may want to avoid gunning for another club’s Premier League manager if they were to part ways with Potter, but Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers could be an exception to that.

The former Liverpool boss has established Leicester as top contenders for European football and trophies each season, with the Foxes missing out on Champions League football on the final day in two consecutive seasons, but delivering an FA Cup triumph in 2021.

Over the recent international break there were strong claims that Rodgers should be sacked with Leicester languishing at the bottom of the league, but the Northern Irishman has been able to turn their fortunes around in a short amount of time, something that is desperately needed at Stamford Bridge.

Didier Deschamps

After passing over a decade as manager of the French National team earlier this year, Didier Deschamps may be tempted back into club management by a vacancy at Chelsea, a a club he spent a season with during his playing days.

Deschamps achieved the most prestigious prize on offer in international football when he won the 2018 World Cup with France and he is certain to have a go at retaining the label of World Champions for France before he may depart.

Zinedine Zidane is reportedly interested in the France job and while he could be an option for Todd Boehly, his heart seems set on that role and if things do play out this way, Deschamps would be available at the start of 2023, although he may take a sabbatical after ten years in the same job.

Ruben Amorim

Chelsea supporters may not be too open to the idea of Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim joining the club, especially as it would be a slight risk, but he would nonetheless be an exciting and extravagant appointment.

Amorim has been with the Portuguese outfit for two years and in his first full season guided the club to the domestic title before a second-placed finish in the last campaign.

Many have been critical of Potter’s actions on the touchline, but they would certainly have no qualms with Amorim who lives and breathes every touch his team makes and he was so engulfed in Sporting’s Champions League match against Spurs last month, he could not watch at certain moments.
