Chelsea Set To Sacrifice Two Boehly Signings For £88m Striker

Chelsea are looking to bolster their forward line this summer, with reports suggesting that they are in talks to sign an £88m-rated striker.

The Blues have already secured the services of RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku for £53m, as well as signing Kendry Paez and Alex Matos for the future, courtesy of Todd Boehly‘s investment in the club.

However, Chelsea’s lack of end product this season has been a concern and they are keen to add more firepower to their attack.

Joao Felix, who was signed on loan from Atletico Madrid during the winter window, has been a constant threat and the Blues are reportedly keen to bring him back next season.

A ‘series of calls’ have taken place between Chelsea and Atletico officials, with the Spanish side quoting an £88m fee for Felix.

To sweeten the deal, Chelsea have offered two recent signings, Marc Cucurella and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as makeweights.

Cucurella, who cost £62m including add-ons and is about to enter his prime years at the age of 24, has been a disappointment in his maiden season at Chelsea and has been offered to Atletico.

Aubameyang, who recently expressed his desire to re-join Barcelona, is also reportedly up for grabs.

However, it seems that Atletico are not interested in either player and are eyeing an outright sale or another loan deal for Felix.

If a straightforward sale is not possible, Atletico are ‘open’ to another loan spell, but the loan fee would be raised to approximately £14m for an entire season.

Super agent Jorge Mendes who is heavily involved in both Chelsea and Atletico’s affairs, is reportedly striving to find a solution that suits all parties, including the wantaway player.
