Romelu Lukaku Faces Embarrassing Return To Chelsea At The End Of The Season

Romelu Lukaku faces an embarrassing return to his parent club Chelsea at the end of the season according to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.
The Belgian is currently out on loan at Inter Milan and has been public in his desire to stay there. However, he’s yet to convince the club bosses that they should hold on to him.
So far this season, Lukaku has only scored twice in 11 games, starting just four matches and missing a chunk of the campaign with injury issues.
When Chelsea agreed to loan Lukaku out to Inter, they discussed a possible second loan deal for the 2023-24 season. Now, it is in danger.

Lukaku is still the most expensive player in Chelsea’s history: his transfer from Inter in 2021 cost the Blues €115 million.
He failed to meet the expectations, scoring just 15 goals in 44 games for the club while also openly pining for a return to Inter.
Romelu Lukaku says he wants to ‘find a solution with Chelsea’ to let him stay at Inter Milan
Lukaku has declared he wants to stay at Inter Milan instead of returning to Chelsea.
The 29-year-old returned to the Blues ahead of the 2021-22 season and, despite starting well, was unable to impress throughout the year.
Lukaku has now said he will be allowed to leave Chelsea on a more long-term basis after speaking with owner Todd Boehly.

Speaking to Sky, Lukaku expressed his desire to stay in Italy as a result of his relationship with former boss Thomas Tuchel.
Lukaku said: ‘I hope to stay at Inter also in the future. I want to continue here as I love this club, we will speak to Chelsea in order to find a solution.’
The Belgian striker has said he has spoken with Boehly about leaving the club and he has been granted permission.
The Inter striker continued: ‘Boehly decided to let me leave after I told him the truth about my relationship with Tuchel.’
Lukaku struggled to nail down a regular spot in the Chelsea first XI after the interview and this impacted his performance when he managed to play.
The striker then returned to Inter on loan in the summer and now wants to stay with the club.
Lukaku has not played a lot this season for the Italian side due to injury but will be hoping to return to his best once fully fit.
