Brighton said: ‘Brighton & Hove Albion are aware that one of its players is assisting police with the investigation of an alleged offense.

‘The matters are subject to a legal process and the club is, therefore, unable to make further comment at this time.’

A statement from Sussex Police confirmed: ‘Two men have been arrested after a woman reported being sexually assaulted at a venue in Brighton, in the early hours of Wednesday (06 October).

According to reports, the player had been ‘partying with a friend at The Arch bar (Google Street View) in Brighton in the early hours of Wednesday when he was arrested.

‘A man in his 40’s and a man in his 20’s, both from Brighton, were arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and remain in police custody at this time.

‘The victim is receiving specialist support from officers.’

According to the Sun, the player had been ‘partying with a friend at a bar in Brighton in the early hours of Wednesday when he was arrested.

The paper reports the star was then detained by officers before being led away in handcuffs at around 2 am.

An insider reportedly told the Sun: ‘The club was packed — it was a popular student night, especially with freshers in town.

‘People were starstruck to see him in the club. They were even more shocked to see him later being led away in handcuffs outside the club.’
