Moises Caicedo Speaks On Why He Was Desperate To Join Arsenal
Brighton star,Moises Caicedo recently shed light on his motives for pushing a transfer to Arsenal in the January window.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Telegraph, the young midfielder from Ecuador revealed that he longs to see the Gunners end their two-decade-long wait for the Premier League title.
As it turns out, Mikel Arteta was also hell-bent on acquiring the services of Caicedo, but despite offering a colossal sum of £70 million, Brighton didn’t budge and kept hold of their coveted talent.
After airing his intention to leave the Seagulls publicly, the 21-year-old midfielder was welcomed back into the team with open arms. Brighton now stands on the verge of earning a place in Europe and has also secured a berth in the FA Cup final.

Nonetheless, Caicedo has no regrets about making his intentions known via Instagram, which amounted to a rather brazen transfer request.
He still holds Arsenal in high regard and is in awe of the North London outfit who continue to vie for the championship title.
‘I’d seen a lot of Arsenal before knowing that there was a possibility of me signing for them,’ Caicedo told the Daily Telegraph when asked why he wanted to join the Gunners.
‘I watched them and I liked them because they have very young, talented players and some stars but they always have that mindset of wanting more.
‘Of course,’ he added, when asked if he wanted Arsenal to pip City to the title. ‘I hope so but let’s see.’
Caicedo was also coy on the prospect of leaving in the summer, just months after he signed a new contract in the wake of Brighton refusing him the opportunity of a dream move to north London.
‘I’m sure I’m going to have many more opportunities,’ he said. ‘That’s why I continue to do things well.
‘[But] it was tough. At the beginning when I didn’t end up going, lots of people would make fun of me on Instagram.
‘People treated me badly. I didn’t check my social media because it would hurt me to see things.
‘I just want to have a really good season with Brighton now, to finish off the season well and play really well and then we’ll see what happens next season.’
