Messi's Thoughts On Ronaldo Amid Man Utd Crisis Revealed

Paris St-Germain forward, Lionel Messi has already shared his thoughts on Cristiano Ronaldo’s difficult situation at Manchester United.

Ronaldo has been intent on leaving Manchester United for the past four months after his high-profile return from Juventus failed to go according to plan last year.

Last season, despite scoring 24 goals in all competitions, the Red Devils’ collective form plummeted, and they finished sixth in the Premier League.

Ronaldo stormed down the Old Trafford tunnel after Manchester United’s two-goal victory over Tottenham, prompting manager Erik ten Hag to bench him for the following weekend’s trip to Chelsea.

Now, it is expected that he will depart Old Trafford next year, possibly as early as the January transfer window.

Cristiano Ronaldo was widely criticized for leaving the game, with some suggesting he should follow Messi’s example in dealing with his declining status.

He has started just one of Manchester United’s last eight Premier League games, while the Argentine continues to play every match for Paris Saint-Germain when healthy.

The former Real Madrid legend’s return to Old Trafford has not been a success for either the player or the club, but Argentine superstar Lionel Messi has already commented on the player’s predicament and indicated that he believes things could quickly turn around.

Messi discussed Ronaldo’s situation in an interview with Marca last November, following the dismissal of United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. “United are a very strong team with great players, said Messi.

“Cristiano already knew the club, but that was at another stage and now he has adapted in an impressive way.”

Messi added: “From the beginning, he has scored goals as always and had no problems adapting. In the Premier League, it is not as good as we all thought, but it is a very difficult and even competition in which things take a lot of turns. After December it changes a lot and anything can happen.”

Ronaldo’s situation at Manchester United is becoming increasingly desperate, with no indication that he will return to a starting role under Erik ten Hag and, despite the player’s efforts and United’s willingness, no buyer has yet emerged for the Portuguese superstar, who will turn 38 in January.

Both Ronaldo and Messi changed clubs in the summer of 2021, and neither move has threatened to live up to their sky-high expectations.

With both players’ contracts set to expire in 2023, the duo will likely be on the move again in 2024.
