Many Killed, House, Shops Burnt As Fulani Herdsmen Attacks Igangan

More than five persons have been reportedly killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen at Igangan, in Ibarapa North Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The attack reportedly happened around midnight on Sunday, June 6 as residents were shot dead.

Cars owned by residents were set ablaze by the rampaging gunmen including a truck loaded with cassava flour.

Many of the residents of Ayete, said some residents of Igangan sent messages across to them, asking for help.

“At last notorious terrorist herdsmen are now waging war against lgangan. The situation is a very serious one.

“They are shooting everywhere. It is very serious now. They have killed, burnt vehicles and committed series of atrocities.

“They killed many people. We will ascertain the number of the victims in the morning time” Sources tells Punch.

There have also been reports of constant attacks against residents by Fulani herdsmen in Igangan and other parts of Ibarapaland.

Video of the attack have gone viral on social media, causing public outrage as many Nigerians call on the state and federal government to intervene in the crisis.
