Manchester United Consider Signing Chelsea Midfielder In The Summer

Manchester United are reportedly keeping an eye on Mason Mount’s future at Stamford Bridge amid challenging contract agreement with Chelsea.

The England international will have just a year remaining on his contract this summer and Chelsea have been unable to reach an agreement with the midfielder over a new deal.

Blues co-owner Todd Boehly has been working to secure Mount’s future since last summer but, unlike the speedy agreement reached with right-back Reece James, talks with the midfielder have proven challenging.

Liverpool are already monitoring Mount’s situation as the 24-year-old is reluctant to sign a long-term contract which is on offer from Chelsea’s new owners.

According to ESPN, United are among the clubs who are considering a move for Mount this summer if Chelsea decide to sell.

The report claims that Liverpool and Manchester City are also interested in the England international, who is looking for a ‘significant increase’ on his current £80,000-a-week salary.

Meanwhile, Marca reports that Mount has been offered to Atletico Madrid as Chelsea attempts to negotiate a permanent deal for Joao Felix.

The Portugal international is on loan at Chelsea until the end of the season but the report claims that the forward is keen to make the move permanent.

However, Atletico are looking to recoup as much of the £113 million (€126m) they spent on signing Felix from Benfica in 2019.

The report claims that Atletico’s preference is a cash-only deal, while Mount’s salary demands would be out of range for the Spanish club.
