"It's A Thorn In My Side Not Signing For Barcelona" - Cucurella
Chelsea fullback Marc Cucurella admits Barcelona return ambitions

Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella has revealed that one of his biggest regrets is not having signed for La Liga giant, Barcelona.

However, he left the possibility open of signing for the Catalan side: “It would be great”.

On his route to Stamford Bridge, Marc Cucurella joined Eibar and then Getafe before Brighton and Hove Albion cemented him in the Premier League. The 24-year-old impressed enough to make the £56million switch to Chelsea, making 13 appearances so far for the side.

Cucurella has struggled with some performances so far, though there has been a lack of consistency in his positioning, sometimes playing as a wing-back, others as a centre-back. There will be hopes that he can find the form that earned him the move in the summer when football returns after the World Cup.

While he missed out on a call up to the World Cup with Spain, there has been some down time for the defender, using it to conduct an interview with Catalunya Radio.

The defender made it clear that one of his biggest regrets is not having signed for Barcelona. That is what the ex-Getafe man said in an interview with ‘Estadio Deportivo’.

“I didn’t have the chance and it’s always been a thorn in my side. If the opportunity opens up in the future, we’d weigh it up, but it would be great”, he said. Therefore, he left the possiblity open.

The Spaniard’s name was being thrown around for Luis Enrique’s 26-man list for the Qatar World Cup, but Jordi Alba and Gaya, who ended up being injured and replaced by Balde, ended up being chosen.
