Iheanacho 'Sends' Warning Shots To Benin, Lesotho Ahead Of AFCON Qualifier

Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho sends warning shots to Benin and Lesotho ahead of AFCON qualifier.

Iheanacho who has been dubbed “Seniorman” by fans and teammates alike is expected to feature in the Super Eagles squad against the Republic of Benin and Lesotho in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations Cup.

The In-form Leicester City star has scored five goals in two matches and these serves as a warning sign to the Super Eagles opponents.

Iheanacho’s form has been a source of joy to Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr whose team need only one point from the remaining two matches to qualify for the continental showpiece.

Leicester City are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup for the first time since 1982, thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho who has continued his fine goalscoring form with a brace in the Foxes 3-1 victory over Manchester United at King Power Stadium on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Watford defender William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Henry Onyekuru, Semi Ajayi and Oghenekaro Etebo have all arrived Super Eagles camp ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Benin and Lesotho.

The quintet breezed into the team’s camp on Sunday evening. Captain of the team Ahmed Musa is also among the early arrivals in camp.

More players are expected to arrive the team’s camp on Monday as they look to begin preparations for the qualifiers.

The Super Eagles are currently top of Group L where all the teams, which include Benin, Sierra Leone and Lesotho, can still qualify for January’s finals in Cameroon.

The Super Eagles have eight points, one ahead of the squirrels of Benin while the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone have three points and Lesotho two.
