I Looked At The Brentford Goal And It Is Offside – Mikel Arteta

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta says Ivan Toney’s equalizing goal for Brentford on Saturday should have been disallowed.
Arsenal surrendered a 1-0 lead after 74 minutes when Toney headed in from close range. The goal was reviewed by VAR but it was allowed to stand as officials decided Toney was onside. The Gunners coach feels that the goal should have been ruled out
Speaking after the 1-1 draw, he said: “I just looked at it [the Brentford goal] and it is offside.”
The Spanish manager added: “You apply different rules and you have to change your principles.”

He told BBC Sport: “It’s a tough one to take. We did everything well. To score against Brentford isn’t easy. We said before on the set-pieces they’re really good and today it happened again. We have to learn from that. There’s a game again on Wednesday to turn things around.
“You don’t get your way every game. We have to work hard every single day. There’s a great atmosphere in the team and we have to keep that momentum going even when results don’t go your way.”
The result does extend the gap over City at the top to six points but opens the possibility of them being usurped next week.
If Pep Guardiola’s side can beat Aston Villa on Sunday, they will know that a win over their title rivals on Wednesday will see them move to the summit.
Brentford meanwhile, remain in eighth and are unbeaten in their last 10 Premier League games. Thomas Frank revealed his players wouldn’t be celebrating the draw with the league leaders though, believing their performance warranted an even better result.
