Graham Potter 'Should Be Sacked For Post-Match Comments' After Chelsea Lose To Southampton
Chelsea boss Graham Potter cited rotation as the reason for their Southampton loss

Former Premier League player, Gabby Agbonlahor has called for Graham Potter to be sacked as Chelsea manager for his post-match comments after Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Southampton.

Potter was slammed for his rotation excuse for losing at home to the side bottom of the table on Saturday (February 18).

The manager-less Southampton took all three points back home from Stamford Bridge thanks to James Ward-Prowse’s 17th Premier League free-kick.

Potter said it was “difficult” to contend with the changes he had to make to his side against a “team that is well prepared” – which didn’t wash with talkSPORT pundit Agbonlahor. He argued: “Potter should be sacked for that post-match interview.

“What’s he talking about? You’re playing against a team that are in disarray, they’ve not got a manager, they can’t get back-to-back wins together.

“And you’re complaining that you’ve had to bring [Mykhailo] Mudryk off the bench, you’ve had to start [Joao] Felix, Are you joking me?”

Agbonlahor’s co-host Jamie O’Hara added: “Is he winding me up talking about ‘it is what it is’ and ‘we’ve had to make a few changes’? This is Chelsea football club, have you seen their line-up today? It’s an unreal team.

“Unbelievable. And do you know what? If this was Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United, there would be riots right now in terms of how bad this team is. Graham Potter is getting away with murder.”

Potter had earlier told talkSPORT: “You have to see it for what it is, in terms of today, we had to make some changes because of the Champions League and because of the situation that we’re in – boys coming back from injuries.

“So when you make those changes, it can be difficult against a team that is well prepared.”

Chelsea had a three day turnaround from their 1-0 defeat away at Borussia Dortmund last Wednesday, with Potter making six changes to his starting XI. The Blues find themselves 10th in the Prem after just one win and three draws in their last five league outings,
