Manchester United Terminates Cristiano Ronaldo's Contract

Manchester United have announced that Cristiano Ronaldo‘s contract has been terminated by mutual agreement and he is to leave the club with immediate effect.

Infoexpert24 reports that Ronaldo‘s contract termination by Man United has sparked mixed reactions amongst fans across all social media.

The club, however, thanked the Portuguese for his contribution during the two spells which saw him score 145 goals in 346 appearances.

While Ronaldo’s relationship with United has been strained since the arrival of Erik ten Hag in the summer, it was the Portuguese’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan which brought his time in Manchester to a premature end. Ronaldo hit out at multiple aspects of the club, both past, and present, leaving United with little choice but to part ways with the player.

This was disclosed in a statement on the club’s official website on Tuesday.

The statement read in part, “Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances and wishes him and his family well for the future.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”

After United announced that the club and player would be parting ways, Cristiano Ronaldo issued a statement that was reported across social media. He underlined his love for the club and the fans but argued it was the right time to seek pastures new.

He said: “Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early. I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge.

“I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.”

It comes a week after Ronaldo unsettled the club in an outspoken TV interview with Piers Morgan.

@PoojaMedia Tweeted: Ronaldo sacrificed himself for the truth. Youngsters will come back 20 years later that Ronaldo’s changed so many things about the club.
From gym equipment to management/running of the club to nutrition. A legend.

@AbidinYedek Tweeted: You haven’t won a trophy since he left. I hope you never win trophies again.

@_AsiwajuLerry Tweeted: Cristiano’s Legacy will live forever, but Ten Hag will never win a spoon at United.

@_samiyenhaber Tweeted: You don’t deserve Cristiano Ronaldo, he’s a bigger player than Manchester United. When you come to Galatasaray, you will see the real Ronaldo.

@Allenja22145602 Tweeted: OMG Man-United has lost a fan, l don’t think they will be able to handle it. I hope the manager contacts you with immediate effect

@bharadwajv79 Tweeted: To all “only Ronaldo” fans here @ManUtd made him the payer he is today. United was great before and after him, and will be great again without him. Am a United fan first, Ronaldo fan boy as well. But there are limits. No one is bigger than the club.

@SageyAFK Tweeted: I can 100% be sure that the club agreed to pay him NOTHING if they didn’t come out and prove that all his “accusations” were false. He got what he wanted, we’ll continue playing better without him. The End of an Error.

@FCBiEman Tweeted: As a honest Ronaldo fan, I beg Manchester United to please not let him go. He doesn’t have anywhere to go. Nobody wants him. If he leaves then I won’t be a supporter of this club anymore. I will go to our rivals City where they know how to run a club.

@UtdJavi Tweeted: Ronaldo one of the biggest reasons I fell in love with football and as well as becoming a United fan. Forever grateful for what he’s contributed to the club and I wish him all the best. Legend forever

@daniel_mejia Tweeted: He´s a legend, yes. But in a few years he´s going to be just a memory, and Manchester United will still be the biggest club in England, as they have been for more than 100 years.

@Proudy31589 Tweeted: He’s played a blinder 😂 His sole reason for doing the interview was to make his position at United untenable. United have given him exactly what he wants.
