Erik ten Hag Reveals Fitness Worry For Manchester United Ahead of Bournemouth Clash Today

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an update on the fitness of star forward Marcus Rashford ahead of the upcoming match against Bournemouth.

Rashford, who leads United’s scoring charts with 16 Premier League goals this season, missed the recent win over Wolves through injury but was spotted back in training earlier this week, so it seemed as though the 25-year-old would be back in action this weekend.

However, Ten Hag has now revealed that a sickness bug could delay Rashford’s comeback.

“Rashy trained well the whole week but today he reported that he is ill. We have to see how he recovers during the day and see tomorrow,” Ten Hag told the media ahead of the Premier League clash.

Despite initially showing signs of progress and participating in training sessions, Rashford has reported feeling unwell, raising concerns about his availability for the crucial Premier League clash.

Ten Hag shared the news with the media, stating that they will assess Rashford’s condition and monitor his recovery before making a final decision.

In addition to Rashford, Ten Hag also provided updates on other players within the squad. He confirmed that Raphael Varane is fully fit and available for selection, while Scott McTominay has returned to training.

McTominay’s involvement in the upcoming match will depend on his performance during training sessions leading up to the game.

The match against Bournemouth holds significant importance for Manchester United as they aim to secure their place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Currently holding a four-point lead over Liverpool, United will be eager to extend that margin with a victory. With only a few matches remaining in the season, every point is crucial in the race for qualification.

Ten Hag also spoke about Phil Jones after the club announced the 31-year-old would leave the club this summer.

“I think he has [had] a great career, what he achieved, winning the Premier League, winning the FA Cup, winning the Europa League, being present at two World Cups, a massive career at Man Utd. So, all the credit for his career.”

As the Bournemouth clash approaches, United fans will anxiously await updates on Rashford’s condition and hope for his swift recovery to strengthen the team’s chances of securing a vital victory.
