A Chelsea fan on Twitter who goes by the username @jsaifie has predicted the club will win a title at the end of the seaso, but not one that anybody wants.

In the world of football, it is safe to say that Chelsea’s season has been nothing short of a disaster.

When Todd Boehly took over the club last summer and invested a staggering £300m on new players, fans were excited about the prospect of a title challenge in the Premier League and a strong showing in the Champions League.

However, as we fast forward to the present day, the reality is far from what was expected. Chelsea find themselves languishing in 11th place in the Premier League and are on the verge of crashing out of the Champions League.

Despite an additional £300m spent in the January transfer window, the club’s fortunes have failed to turn around.

Boehly has already gone through three different managers in a desperate attempt to save the season. Thomas Tuchel was initially brought in, but his tenure was short-lived as he was quickly replaced by Graham Potter after a poor start to the campaign. Unfortunately for Potter, he too was unable to steer the ship in the right direction and was dismissed after just six months in charge.

Now, the responsibility has fallen to club legend Frank Lampard, who has taken over as interim boss until the end of the season.

However, the early signs have not been encouraging, with the team suffering defeats to the likes of Wolves, Real Madrid, and Brighton in Lampard’s first three matches in charge.

It remains to be seen whether Lampard can turn things around for Chelsea, but it is clear that the club is in dire need of a major overhaul. The expensive new signings have failed to gel, and the constant changes in management have only added to the turmoil.

Saturday’s 2-1 loss at home to Brighton – a scoreline that flatters Chelsea – leaves the London side with 39 points from 31 games.

Remarkably, Lampard’s side are closer to the relegation zone (12 points) than they are to the top four (17 points).

Realistically, Chelsea can’t hope to finish any higher than 7th, but even that would be a push.

Now, one fed-up supporter has pointed out that if Chelsea aren’t careful, they could actually finish the season as the worst Premier League team in London.

Arsenal, Tottenham, Brentford and Fulham are all above Chelsea in the table, with Crystal Palace and West Ham below them.

Palace are only three points behind their wealthy rivals though, and have won three consecutive games since Roy Hodgson was re-appointed manager.

West Ham are nine points behind Chelsea and are involved in the relegation scrap, but David Moyes’ side have two games in hand on Lampard’s.

Chelsea’s last seven league fixtures include tricky trips to Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City, as well as a final-day clash with Champions League-chasing Newcastle.

If Lampard can’t coax some good performances out of his side soon then there’s every chance Chelsea could finish the season as the worst Premier League team in London.

For Chelsea fans, it is a far cry from the optimism and excitement that accompanied Boehly’s initial investment. Now, the focus is squarely on avoiding a total collapse and salvaging what remains of a season that has quickly turned into a shambles.
