El-Rufai reveals those who hijacked #EndSARS protests

The Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has disclosed those who hijacked the peaceful EndSARS protest.

The former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory disclosed that the peaceful protest was hijacked by anti-democratic forces.

Infoexpert24 reported that the #EndSARS Protest was a peaceful one until it was hijacked by hoodlums. What really sets the 2020 #EndSARS movement apart from previous struggles in Nigeria is its inclusive, decentralized leadership and organizing approach.

El-Rufai however, noted that organisers of the protest had the best of intentions for the country.

The governor stated this while addressing newsmen after a meeting of the Northern Governors Forum and traditional rulers in Kaduna, yesterday.

“We believe that the End SARS organisers have the best of intentions, but there are people that are pushing their own evil, anti-democratic agenda.

“We have taken very clear positions on some of these issues, and we also back our road map, looking at various aspects of our lives, including Nigeria’s economic challenges, developmental and the almajiri problems,” El-Rufai said.

It’s a known fact that hoodlums had taken over the peaceful EndSARS protest to cause havoc on businesses and some government establishments.

Northern Governors under the aegis of the Nigerian Northern Governors’ Forum, have called for the censorship of the social media.

The governors said the social media have a “devastating” effects after their meeting on Monday.

They also vowed to keep Nigeria one, declaring that the unity of the country was non negotiable.

The northern governors condemned the #EndSARS protests which they claimed was meant to remove the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(retd), from office.

Part of the communique issued after the meeting read, “The meeting took note of the devastating effect of the uncontrolled social media in spreading fake news. Therefore, calls for major control mechanism and censorship of the social media practice in Nigeria.
