Chelsea owners are completely backing Graham Potter after a woeful run of form in the Premier League over the past few months according to David Ornstein.

Although Chelsea have only won 2 of their last 13 matches, the ownership will judge Potter over a matter of years and not months.

Boehly and the co-owners believe that they have one of the best managers in the game and understand that him taking over mid-season means time is needed for the club’s overhaul to be successful.

The 47-year-old tactician was handed a five-year deal through to 2027 when inheriting managerial reins at Stamford Bridge from Thomas Tuchel.

He has found the going tough, winning just nine of his 23 games at the helm, and uncomfortable questions have been asked of his future in west London

They also feel Potter has been unlucky in terms of the number of injuries suffered by the squad.

Mikel Arteta‘s success at Arsenal is the comparison being drawn when it comes to Chelsea, and the owners are betting on Potter for success in the long-term.

Potter’s fate will not be determined by progress in the Champions League this season – ahead of a last-16 showdown with Borussia Dortmund or a push for a top-four finish in 2022-23.

With Chelsea sitting ninth in the English top flight at present, there is an acceptance that short-term goals need to be realistic.

The Blues hierarchy have strongly backed Potter in the transfer market, spending £300million in January and giving the Englishman many selection headaches as a result.

While Todd Boehly has spent a lot of money and positive results on the pitch have been lacking, it is believed that the Chelsea board is fully backing Potter.
