The arrival of Nkunku, meanwhile, could hasten the departure of Kai Havertz who has been the subject of an improved bid from Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta is keen to add a versatile forward to his strikeforce and the Gunners are confident of completing a deal for the Germany international imminently.
The Gunners saw their opening offer rejected last week but have returned with a bid of £55m that has a number of clauses which could eventually see them pay £60m for the 24-year-old.
