Nnamdi Kanu Discharged And Acquitted

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been discharged and acquitted by the Appeal Court, Abuja.

Infoexpert24 reports that this information was made available by Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor on Thursday evening.

Recall that Barrister Ejiofor, on Wednesday evening said the Court of Appeal Abuja Judicial Division will deliver judgment on Thursday, October 13, 2022, in an appeal filed by Nnamdi Kanu, detained leader of the pro-Biafra group, challenging criminal charges against him.

Nnamdi Kanu was re-arraigned on an amended 15-count charge bordering on treasonable felony preferred against him by the federal government. However, on April 8, the judge struck out eight of the 15-count charge.

But Kanu through his team of lawyers led by Mike Ozekhome, filed an appeal marked CA/ABJ/CR/625/2022, praying the court to quash the remaining seven counts for being devoid of merit.

The appeal is equally praying the court to order his release on bail, pending the determination of his appeal.

The court ruled that the “extraordinary rendition” of Kanu from Kenya is declared illegal and consequently constitutes a bar to further trial.
