Barcelona To Play Real Madrid In Copa Del Rey Semi-Final

Barcelona have been drawn against their arc-rival Real Madrid in the Copa Del Rey semi-final, while Osasuna will clash against Athletic Bilbao in the other semi-final.
Both teams recently met in the Spanish Supercopa final with Barca winning the game 3-1.
There is a bit of an issue with dates due to Real Madrid’s involvement in the Club World Cup. The first legs are set for the week of February 8, when Real Madrid will be away at the tournament, and the week after Barca are playing in the Europa League.

It seems that we may not see the first leg take place until March, which will be good news for Ousmane Dembele at least, with the Frenchman forced onto the sidelines after picking up an injury against Girona.
The semifinal represents a chance for La Liga and European champions Real to get revenge for its 3-1 loss two weeks ago in the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona.
Barca is currently the league leaders after it moved on to 47 points with their 1-0 win at Girona on Saturday. Real is second, five points behind.

Real and Barcelona have not played each other in the Copa del Rey since the 2019 semi-finals. Back then Barca won 4-1 on aggregate after beating Real 3-0 at the Bernabeu in the second leg.
Real have not reached a Copa del Rey final since 2014 when they beat Barca 2-1 thanks to an 85th-minute Gareth Bale winner.
Meanwhile, Barca have been champions in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2021.
