Legendary former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger is set to have a say on whether Cristiano Ronaldo scored the first goal for Portugal against Uruguay on Monday in the ongoing World cup in Qatar.

Infoexpert24 reports that Controversy has surrounded the goal, which appeared to graze Ronaldo’s hair on its way in from a Bruno Fernandes cross.

Though FIFA awarded the goal to Fernandes, but Ronaldo was seen complaining after the match that the ball touched him.

According a report by ESPN, Adidas’s technology determined that Ronaldo did not touch the ball. Wenger is set to have the final say on the matter.

Fernandes added a second one from the penalty spot to see Portugal qualify for the Round of 16 with a game to spare.

Cristiano Ronaldo will have to wait for an insight from an Arsene Wenger-led committee, which is set to decide if he scored against Uruguay.

FIFA technical study

Arsene Wenger is currently the head of FIFA’s technical study group, which is set to look into the issue and come up with a final decision. According to the Daily Mail, the group will study a series of images and camera angles in the subsequent days before announcing their decision.

If Ronaldo is awarded the goal, he will take his tournament’s tally to two, having scored against Ghana in their opening game.
