Arsenal Set To Sign 2022 World Cup Winner In January – See Who

Arsenal have reportedly been linked with a January bid to sign Brighton midfielder and World Cup Winner Alexis Mac Allister.

Infoexpert24 understands that the Argentina international is wanted by several clubs after a hugely impressive World Cup campaign.

Mac Allister played an integral role in Lionel Scaloni’s side winning the tournament after beating France on penalties after an exhilarating final on Sunday.

Premier League rival, Tottenham have also been linked with a move for Mac Allister, while Spanish side Atletico Madrid are also said to be interested in the 23-year-old.

Arsenal have now reportedly entered to race to sign the Argentine, who joined Brighton from Argentinos Juniors in 2019.

According to Spanish outlet AS, Mikel Arteta’s side are considering a move for the midfielder, potentially in January.

Brighton are in a strong negotiating position, with Mac Allister under contract until 2025 with the club holding the option of a further year.

Speaking on Tuesday, Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi confirmed Mac Allister will miss his side’s Carabao Cup round of 16 clash with Charlton on Wednesday.

He says he was delighted with the midfielder’s performances in Qatar and will now allow him to rest up before he returns to Brighton.

“We are very proud of Alexis,” De Zerbi said.

“He was one of the best players in the competition.

“I had many messages with him and I’m very happy for him. Now he has two weeks of holiday.”

Brighton return to Premier League action against south coast rivals Southampton on Boxing Day.

They will then coincidentally face Premier League leaders Arsenal on December 31.
