Arsenal Made An Enquiry On Chelsea Midfielder N'Golo Kante

Arsenal reportedly made an enquiry into the availability of Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante before signing Jorginho according to sources close to the player.

This comes after a frustrating January transfer window for the Gunners, who missed out on signing Mykhailo Mudryk at the last minute, leaving fans disappointed.

Despite this setback, Mikel Arteta remained determined to bolster his squad and continued his pursuit of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo. However, Arsenal’s approach was met with resistance, with reports suggesting that they had “irritated” the Premier League side.

Undeterred, Arteta turned his attention to other targets and made some shrewd signings in the form of Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, and central defender Jakub Kiwior.

Jorginho, in particular, has been a standout addition to the Arsenal squad, with his impressive performances in midfield helping the Gunners climb the Premier League table.

Sources suggest that Arsenal’s inquiry into Kante’s availability was made before they signed Jorginho, indicating that the Gunners were keen to add depth and quality to their midfield. However, it remains to be seen whether they will make a move for the French international in the future.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, Arsenal will be looking to continue their recruitment drive and add further quality to their squad. The Gunners will be hoping to build on their recent upturn in form and challenge for a place in Europe next season.

In the meantime, Arsenal fans will be delighted with the business conducted by Arteta in January, which has injected some much-needed quality and depth into the squad. The Gunners will be looking to continue their good form and finish the season strongly, with Jorginho and his new teammates leading the charge.

During an interview with French news outlet Le Parisien, Kante’s entourage discussed the 32-year-old’s future, with his contract due to expire in the summer.

They claimed he had been approached by Arsenal over a possible move to the Emirates, while the midfielder’s admiration for former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte was also revealed.

“N’Golo would like to continue his career in London, where he has his habits,” it was explained.

“He liked working with Antonio Conte, but he has been sacked by Tottenham.

“Arsenal also made an enquiry… I think he will extend his deal at Chelsea before going to the Middle-East in two or three years.”

It would appear the Gunners decided to look elsewhere, although not too far afield, turning their attention to fellow Chelsea midfielder Jorginho instead.

Kante came on against Aston Villa earlier this month for the first time since August, after the France international sustained a hamstring injury.

His absence has had a major impact on the Blues, who’s 1-0 defeat to Wolves on the weekend epitomised their dismal campaign, as they were banished to the bottom half of the table.
