Arsenal Fans In For A Pleasant Surprise With New Signing – Ian Wright Claims
Arsenal legend, Ian Wright has expressed his belief that Gunners fans will be pleasantly surprised by the quality of their new signing Kai Havertz and is highly confident that the former Chelsea star will shine in midfield.
Following his £65m transfer from Stamford Bridge, Arteta has indicated that Havertz will primarily feature in midfield.
At Chelsea, the German international often played in a more advanced position, frequently operating as a false nine and notably scoring the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final.

Upon announcing Havertz’s move to the Emirates Stadium, Arteta praised the player, stating, “Kai is a player of top quality. He has great versatility and is an intelligent player. He will bring a huge amount of extra strength to our midfield and variety to our play.”
Arsenal icon Ian Wright shares Arteta’s optimism, expecting Havertz to flourish at Arsenal and asserting that fans will be taken aback by his quality, particularly after three underwhelming seasons at Chelsea.
Havertz arrived at Chelsea with high expectations following his £71m transfer from Bayer Leverkusen but struggled to make a significant impact, scoring only 32 goals in 139 appearances.
Despite Havertz’s difficulties at Stamford Bridge, former Gunners striker Wright cannot contain his excitement about the midfielder’s arrival at Arsenal.

Speaking on his Ringer FC podcast, Wright expressed confidence in the potential of Arsenal’s midfield, especially with Havertz in the mix. He believes Arsenal fans will develop a newfound appreciation for Havertz’s abilities.
Wright elaborated, “We haven’t seen anything from him at Chelsea. Yes, he’s scored the winning goal in a Champions League final and stuff like that. But he’s not a number nine, he’s not a false nine. He’s either a ten drifting in like he did for Bayer Leverkusen, scoring lots of goals in his first couple of seasons. But I can see him as an eight, arriving in the box when Gabriel Jesus drifts out, leaving those spaces. I cannot help but get excited.”
Havertz bid farewell to Chelsea with mixed emotions but expressed his eagerness to join Arsenal, a club that secured a second-place finish in the Premier League last season.
The 24-year-old stated, “It’s super exciting for me to be joining this amazing club and to be part of the Arsenal family. This club has such a big history, and I hope we can achieve lots of things.”
He further emphasized the strong mentality within the Arsenal squad and the difficulty opponents face when playing against the team.

Arteta’s squad has also been bolstered by the signings of England midfielder Declan Rice and Netherlands defender Jurrien Timber as they seek to build upon last season’s impressive second-place finish.
With Havertz’s arrival, Arsenal fans eagerly await the start of the new season, hoping that the talented midfielder can bring a new dynamic to the team’s midfield and help propel them to further success.
