AFCON: Time Where And How To Watch Nigeria Vs Lesotho, Iwobi Test Negative To Covid-19

Nigeria will host Lesotho in what is a wrap of their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualification group on Tuesday and Alex Iwobi speaks after being declared negative for Covid-19.

The Super Eagles have already qualified for the competition which is slated for Cameroon in 2022 as Group L leaders with 11 points from seven matches, while Lesotho are in last position with three points.

Super Eagles secured their spot in the AFCON finals before beating Benin 1-0 last Saturday after their opponents had played out a goalless draw with Sierra Leone.

The Africa Cup of Nations qualifier has been scheduled for 17:00 (Nigerian Time) on Tuesday, March 30.

The venue of the match is Teslim Balogun Stadium Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria. Only few selected fans will be allowed into the stadium to watch the match live. Local stations AIT and NTA are expected to show the match live. Millions of fans who cannot watch via the earlier options can also stream online through various channels.

Iwobi’s COVID-19 test returns negative

Meanwhile, the result of a COVID-19 test on Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has returned negative.

Iwobi was declared positive last Friday ahead of the AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic by health authorities in the Francophone country.

Though he didn’t play but was isolated in the hotel room, the Nigerian contingent had suspicions the positive result in Benin Republic was fake.

Another test carried out on the Everton player returned negative in Nigeria on Tuesday morning.

 A top team official told THE NATION: “We always knew it was a fake result.”

Iwobi has been declared fit and has been included in squad to face Lesotho by 5pm at the Teslim Balogun stadium for the last game of the AFCON qualifiers.
