As Chelsea looks to bounce back from a disappointing season, new manager Mauricio Pochettino is expected to initiate a squad overhaul at Stamford Bridge.

With a focus on rejuvenating the team, several players will make way for new arrivals. Infoexpert24 Sport provides an insight into how Chelsea‘s squad could shape up when the new Premier League season kicks off in August.

Goalkeepers: Arrizabalaga, ONANA

Chelsea is likely to part ways with either Edouard Mendy or Kepa Arrizabalga, and signs point towards the latter’s departure.

Securing a new first-choice goalkeeper is a priority, and Andre Onana’s name has emerged as a strong contender for the role. Additionally, David Raya from Brentford has been considered as a potential option.

Malo Gusto, who was technically signed in January but loaned back to Lyon, will finally join Chelsea this summer.

The 20-year-old will provide valuable cover at right wing-back, given Reece James’ persistent injury concerns.

While Chelsea’s defensive unit is generally settled, there may be departures such as Ben Chilwell, who has garnered interest from various Premier League clubs.

Abdul-Rahman Baba, who spent the previous season on loan at Reading, and Ethan Ampadu are also likely to leave. Lewis Hall, a promising left-sided talent, could be given an opportunity under Pochettino next season.

Midfield: Fernandez, UGARTE, LAVIA, Kante, Gallagher, Kovacic, Chukwuemeka

Significant changes are expected in Chelsea’s midfield, with top priority given to securing N’Golo Kante’s contract extension.

However, it appears that English duo Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek could depart the club. Mount has attracted interest from Manchester United and Liverpool, while Loftus-Cheek might seek a move to Italy.

Consequently, Chelsea will be in the market for replacements, potentially targeting bargain deals such as Manuel Ugarte and Romeo Lavia.

Despite speculation surrounding their futures, Conor Gallagher and Mateo Kovacic are set to stay at the club.

Attack: Pulisic, Ziyech, Aubameyang, Lukaku, Hudson-Odoi, Nkunku, Santos

Chelsea’s attacking options currently outnumber their requirements, prompting the need for a significant trimming of the unit.

Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are likely to depart, while the club may attempt to offload Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following a lackluster debut season in West London. Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi, who were on loan at Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen respectively, are also expected to be sold.

Christopher Nkunku and Andrey Santos have already signed deals with Chelsea and are set to join the team this summer, pending Santos’ work permit acquisition after the Under-20 World Cup.

The departures of certain players, coupled with the arrival of fresh talents, will shape Chelsea’s new-look squad.

The upcoming transfer window promises to be an exciting and transformative period for the Blues as they seek to reclaim their position among the league’s elite.
