A non-league footballer Jay Foulston has gone viral on social media after he was caught swiping on Tinder whilst on the team bus during the club’s trip down to Eastbourne Borough on Saturday afternoon.

Taunton Town center-back had been snapped as they sat on the team coach, with Foulston on his phone with his back to the camera, exposing what was on his screen.

Eagle-eyed fans quickly zoomed in on his phone to see that he was swiping on Tinder, with the popular app’s layout instantly recognizable to those familiar with it.

After the image had gone viral on social media, Taunton tweeted the zoomed-in snap themselves as part of their updates from the match during the first half.

Alongside the picture, they wrote: “Hopefully Jay’s tinder is working its magic off the pitch whilst he does so on the pitch.” Foulston was able to see the funny side, though, as he replied: “It worked,” along with a green tick emoji.

He also responded to a pair of tweets sharing his team coach’s antics, first writing: “Cheers Deb,” in response to the club’s photographer Debbie Gould. In another post, he said: “Mam I made it,” with a crying laughing emoji.

The 22-year-old started in the Taunton defence as they romped to a 3-0 win away at Eastbourne Borough, with two goals from Ross Stearn and another from Dylan Morgan.

Rob Dray’s side are now 16th in the National League South following the win, which was their second in a row following another three points against Havant and Waterlooville in midweek.

Foulston has started every one of the Peacocks’ league matches this season, having joined the club from Newport County back in 2020.

The former Wales youth international has also previously had spells on loan at both Chippenham Town and Merthyr Town.
