'You Let Your Country Down' - Harry Kane Brutally Ridiculed By Brentford Fans
Harry Kane brutally mocked by Brentford fans who sing ‘you let your country down’ after England World Cup penalty miss

Brentford fans took aim at Harry Kane as the Premier League resumed today 26th December 2022, directing a chant of ‘you let your country down’ towards the Tottenham star.

Infoexpert24 recalls that Kane missed a crucial penalty as England crashed out of the World Cup in the quarter-final stage against France earlier this month, with the Three Lions captain taking responsibility for the defeat.

The 29-year-old was met with fierce backlash and just minutes into this return to domestic action faced jeers from the Brentford fans, who made sure to remind him of his miss.

And it was Kane’s first appearance since missing a penalty in England’s quarter-final defeat to France.

The Three Lions skipper dispatched his first spot kick against the defending champions before he fired a second over the top late on in the game.

Gareth Southgate’s men went on to lose the match 2-1 as France progressed and went on to lose on penalties to Argentina in the final.

Meanwhile, Kane was looking to put that moment behind him as he re-focused his attention on Spurs.

But Brentford supporters cruelly refused to let him forget his penalty heartbreak as they sung “you let your country down” at him during the first half.

The Spurs faithful responded by chanting “he’s one of our own”.

And they then took aim at Brentford’s talismanic striker Ivan Toney – who is currently at the centre of a match-betting probe.

The travelling Tottenham contingent could be heard singing “Toney, what’s the odds?” and “You’re getting sacked in the morning”.

Both Toney and Kane scored in the match – with Brentford going 2-0 up before the Spurs man pulled one back for Antonio Conte‘s side.

Tottenham returned from the World Cup break in fourth place, three points above Manchester United but eight adrift of table toppers Arsenal.

Harry Kane now sits on 13 Premier League goals, five behind Manchester City star Erling Haaland on 18.
