Chelsea is reportedly set to block a return to Barcelona for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, despite looking to offload the Gabon international less than a year on from signing him.

The former Arsenal captain has had a difficult spell since his return to London, making only 18 appearances across all competitions for the Blues and scoring just three times.

Chelsea boss Graham Potter has excluded Aubameyang from his squad for the Champions League knockout stages, and he has yet to start in the Premier League since the World Cup-enforced break.

Aubameyang chose to join the Blues to reunite with former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, who was subsequently sacked just days after his arrival.

However, the striker’s recent antics have reportedly infuriated his current employers, including returning to Camp Nou to support his former side in their recent El Clasico victory over Real Madrid.

Despite Aubameyang’s preference for a return to Catalonia, Chelsea is unlikely to sanction the move.

Other clubs, including Inter Milan, are reportedly interested in the Gabon international.

Chelsea boss Potter has handed Aubameyang only 16 minutes of Premier League football in over two months and excluded him from the last two matchday squads.

It is unlikely that the 33-year-old will feature in Saturday’s match against Aston Villa.
