After footage emerged of the former Chelsea boss Ranieri talking to a smartwatch on the touchline, the Italian was asked about his unusual in-game routine.

“I talk to myself,” he said via Caño Football. “I have new phones and smartwatches, so I record notes. When I watch the game back, I know which moments to look for.

“Some people write things down but I prefer to record. That way I can continue watching the game.”

So there we have it. Ranieri keeps a record of specific moments during games by using his watch. Here’s how fans on social media reacted to the use of technology.
