2023: Presidential Aspirant Peter Obi Dumps PDP, Nigerians React

Presidential Aspirant in the forth-coming presidential election Mr. Peter Obi has dumped Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Infoexpert24 reports that the former Anambra state governor’s exit, coming on the eve of hotly-contested presidential primaries, came as the politician expressed fears he might be humiliated at the convention in Abuja.
Peter Obi confirmed his exit on Wednesday evening, saying he caught wind of a gang up against him.
He did not immediately disclose his next platform.
The development is expected to put an additional spotlight on the PDP’s primaries scheduled to be held in Abuja this weekend, where Mr. Obi was initially seen as a front runner in a race that includes Atiku Abubakar, Nyesom Wike, Dele Momodu, Bukola Saraki, and other bigwigs.
A spokesman for the PDP did not immediately return a request seeking comments.
A source familiar with the development said Mr. Peter Obi feared he might not do well at the convention, despite his widespread popularity and fame amongst everyday Nigerians.
In a letter to the party chairman, Mr Obi appreciated his membership and left open future collaboration in service to the country.
Below are some of the reactions by Nigerians on Twitter as Peter Obi dumps PDP:
@firstladyship
Peter Obi has finally dumped the PDP. He has pulled out of their presidential primaries as well. While we wait the big announcement, this is good for his candidacy. Contesting on the platform of an ‘untainted’ party will be a morale booster. The fire in us is unquenchable
@PoojaMedia
I’ve said it before & I’m saying it again that Peter Obi is a movement and not a political party. This is the real beginning of that movement. Be courageous, be enthusiastic, let’s fight for the soul of our country. We cannot continue to be slaves to the political elites.
Peter Obi has seen the light that when it comes to buying Delegates, he cant stand some aspirants & if he tries to go that route, it will stain his “uprightness” For him to win from another party apart from the 2 biggest ones will be a miracle. Presidential dream over?
@phearlessozii
One million march was for Peter Obi not PDP that’s how I know that wherever Peter Obi goes, we in our millions go! It’s really that simple. The goal of a better Nigeria has to be achieved, even if our route differ!!!!
@elonchorch
Before the emergence of Peter Obi as an aspirant, the activities of delegates were never really discussed like it being discussed right now. Peter Obi will correct a lot of abnormalities in Nigerian politics.
@iamjonado
Know this!! Peter Obi is not up against Atiku,Wike, Tambuwal, Apc , Apga or others. The man is up against a corrupt system and corruption is fighting back. Some of ur Twitter influencers are complicit It is lft for u to decide which side of history you want to join good or evil
@IsraelOfAfrika
It is actually as clear as day that Peter Obi is the most competent of all the Presidential aspirants. Stomach infrastructure & ethnic bias is what is making most of us lose our sense of reasoning.
@DAMIADENUGA
Let me check something, if Peter Obi appears on the INEC Presidential Candidate Ballot Paper in 2023, under any party aside the PDP and APC, like this tweet if you’ll still vote for him.

Peter Obi’s fight is not against his fellow politicians, his fight is against a corrupt rotten system blackened by evil so called public servants (politicians,) that’s why he left PDP.
