Barcelona Suffer Major Injury Blow Ahead of Europa League Clash Against Manchester United

Barcelona have been dealt a major blow ahead of their Europa League clash against Manchester United, with Ousmane Dembele now a major doubt for the clash.

Manchester United will travel to Spain to face Barcelona on February 16th before the second leg at Old Trafford just seven days later.

The Frenchman has been in scintillating form for the La Liga giants this term, scoring five goals and providing five assists.

Dembele has reestablished himself as an important first-team player, having looked to be on the cusp of leaving the club last summer.

But the World Cup winner suffered a thigh injury midway through the first half of Barcelona’s win against Girona on Saturday.

Barcelona are said to be not too confident about having the lethal attacker who has struck a formidable partnership with Robert Lewandowski anytime soon.

It is thought that there is a high likelihood that the 25-year-old could be sidelined for longer than the estimated three weeks.

Ousmane Dembele limped off the field grabbing his leg against Girona

His injury is serious and Barca should consider themselves “very lucky” if he makes a return within that time.

Dembele was seen clutching his left leg and the club released a statement afterward confirming they were undergoing assessments on the severity of the injury.

‘Tests carried out this evening on Ousmane Dembélé have shown that he has a rectus femoris injury in his left thigh,’ a statement read.

‘He is out and his recovery will determine his availability.’

United face Barcelona in a play-off after they finished second in their Europa League group, while the Catalans finished third in their Champions League group.
