Chelsea’s talented right-back Reece James found himself in the midst of an injury scare as he underwent a precautionary scan on his knee just days before the club’s pre-season tour in the United States.
James has faced a string of injuries over the past few seasons, greatly limiting his playing time. In the 2021/22 season, he managed only 26 appearances in the Premier League, a number that dropped to a mere 16 last year due to a hamstring injury that prematurely ended his campaign.
However, fans can breathe a sigh of relief as journalist Simon Johnson took to Twitter to provide an update on James’ condition.

According to Johnson, the defender is in good health despite the recent scare. The scan was conducted as a precautionary measure, and James is expected to join his teammates on Chelsea’s pre-season tour.
He said: “As per Nizaar Kinsella, Reece James has had a scan after feeling a bit of pain in his knee. But I’m told he’s fine and good to go on #CFC’s pre-season tour.”
Following a disappointing 12th-place finish in the league, few players experienced more frustration than James.
Nevertheless, his commitment to the club remains unwavering as emphasized by his own father’s recent comments.
This steadfast mentality is undoubtedly appreciated by the supporters, especially considering recent events.
Chelsea made a move to bolster their right-back options in January by acquiring 20-year-old Malo Gusto from Lyon.
Although Gusto remained on loan in France until this summer, he has now linked up with his new teammates for pre-season training.
With Cesar Azpilicueta departing for Atletico Madrid, Gusto is expected to provide cover for James throughout the upcoming season.
In light of the team’s injury woes in recent years, new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has prioritized fitness in the early training sessions.

Pochettino and his staff are determined to put an end to the unsettling wave of injuries that have plagued Stamford Bridge.
To aid in this endeavor, the club has reportedly signed Australian sports scientist Bryce Cavanagh, renowned for his work with Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
As Chelsea embark on their pre-season tour, supporters eagerly await Reece James’ return to full fitness. The right-back’s presence and contributions on the pitch will be crucial as the club aims to bounce back from a challenging campaign and compete at the highest level once again.
