What Ten Hag Discussed With Greenwood During Phone Conversation Revealed

Mason Greenwood had his first chat with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag after being cleared of his domestic assault and r*pe charges.

As per the Sun, the Englishman spoke with Ten Hag on the telephone and was allegedly encouraged by it.

An unnamed source told The Sun: “Mason’s spirits were lifted by it. He has been at United since he was six and just wants to get back to playing football for them.

“He is happiest with a ball at his feet and wants to get his career back on track. But he knows the club has a massive decision to make.”

Questions have been raised about where Greenwood’s footballing future may lie as a result of his release, with mixed opinions on a potential return to Manchester United.

It is not yet known where Greenwood himself wishes to continue his playing career, with a potential move to the Chinese Super League among the options understood to be available to the Englishman.

Despite being contracted to the club, there has been no decision made by Manchester United with regard to Greenwood’s future at Old Trafford. The English forward remains suspended by the Premier League outfit pending an internal investigation.

Should United opt against allowing the 21-year-old back at the club, then he would likely have to take a ‘notable reduction’ on his current wage in search of a new employer, The Mirror’s Colin Millar reports:

‘If he does leave, the forward is thought to have four options on the table – a move to mainland Europe, joining a club in the MLS, moving to the Middle East or joining a side in the Chinese Super League. If he is to move to the Far East, he would have to accept a notable reduction on his current £75k weekly wage, with salaries in China capped at £50k per week.’

Greenwood is also without any major sponsorship deals after Nike cut ties with the footballer following his court case.
