What Arsene Wenger Told Graham Potter To Do To Survive At Chelsea

Legendary former Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger has given new Chelsea manager, Graham Potter tips on how to cement his authority at Stamford bridge.

Infoexpert24 reports that Wenger told Potter that his first three months in charge at Chelsea could potentially define his time with the club.

Potter was the first-choice managerial choice of Chelsea’s ownership group when Thomas Tuchel’s position became untenable in September and won his first Premier League match in charge of the Blues on Saturday against Crystal Palace.

Wenger, who was a young and somewhat unproven manager when he became Gunners manager in 1996, believes that the former Brighton boss must make an instant impression on the squad or may risk missing out on creating a successful environment.

“Contrary to what people think you have three months, not two years, to convince people around you,” Wenger explained while being interviewed on beIN SPORTS.

“The first three months are most decisive to creating a culture of performance and improvement, every game at the start gives you power and strength to convince people. That’s why games coming up in the next two months are important to him.”

The Frenchman did also, however, warn Potter that the only way he can gain the respect of Chelsea’s large playing group will be by winning matches.

He stated: “You have to win games first. That gives you power and strength in the room. I think the players are intelligent but they are animals who look at your weakness, you have to convince them that you can help them to win.

Chelsea will be looking to register back-to-back victories when they welcome Wolves, who recently parted company with Bruno Lage, to Stamford Bridge next weekend.
