1. Panic In Onitsha As Truckload Of Live Bullets Fall On The Road. Residents of the commercial city of Onitsha in Anambra State were thrown into panic on Sunday morning after a truck loaded with live ammunition fell down in the area.It was gathered that the truck fell in the early hours of Sunday just as residents were making their way to church for worship.The incident generated tension among the residents who raised an alarm before security operatives arrived on the scene to cordon off the area.
2. Parents of the kidnapped Greenfield University students yesterday embarked on fasting and praying for the safe return of the children who were kidnapped from the school premises located on Kaduna-Abuja Highway on April 20.
3. The Presidential Economic Advisory Council has asked the President, Muhammadu Buhari to remove subsidy on petrol and adopt a pricing regime that reflects the cost of the commodity. This was contained in a document presented at the meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari during the weekend.
4. Men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested members of an online drug trafficking cartel that sells drugged cookies, cakes, brownies and other illicit substances to residents of Abuja and beyond. The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
5. Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho has vowed to storm the forests in a renewal of his activity of chasing killer herdsmen out of the Southwest region as from Monday. This is as Igboho also urged President Muhammadu Buhari to prevail on the herdsmen to stop their criminal activities and vacate the southwest region.
He accused the herdsmen of killing innocent people from the southwest, kidnapping them, and demanding ransom for their release. Igboho in a video that has gone viral on the internet warned that as from Monday, he and his men would go into the forests in the Southwest regions and hunt down the killer herdsmen as it is increasingly becoming clearer that no one is safe again.
6. Unknown gunmen have reportedly killed two policemen and razed a police station at Mkpatak, Essien Udim local government area of Akwa Ibom state. They also killed 12 cows in a coordinated attack that took place around 5 pm on Sunday.
7. Crisis erupted on Sunday in Karu, one of the satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, when some commercial motorcyclists clashed with security operatives. The Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, Mariam Yusuf, confirmed the protest.
8. The Senate Committee on Finance says about N2 trillion revenue may have been trapped with Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government or spent on frivolous expenditures. The committee, chaired by Senator Solomon Adeola revealed this at the weekend.
9. Governor Willie Obiano on Sunday said the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri, would be commissioned mid-July for commercial operations. Chief of Staff to the Governor, Primus Odili, addressed newsmen in Awka, yesterday, on behalf of the governor.
10. The Nigerian Army, on Sunday, confirmed the arrest of 13 suspected Boko Haram members following a raid at a mosque located at Filin Lazio, Totoro in the metropolitan area of Kano State. Director Army Public Relations Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima, stated this in a statement.
