1. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released former Abia State Governor, Senator Theodore Orji. The senator was reportedly on his way to London when he was picked up by EFCC operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Thursday.

According to the EFCC, Orji is being interrogated over corrupt financial dealing while serving as Governor between 2007 and 2015. However, the EFCC noted, the serving Senator failed to return the travel document.

2. More Trouble For Abba Kyari As PSC Sets Up Fresh Panel
The crisis involving the embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, seems not to be ending anytime soon as the Police Service Commission has set up an in-house panel to investigate documents presented by the FBI against the decorated cop.

Recall that the super cop who was suspended by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, was indicted by a United States District Court, which issued an arrest warrant.

However, a fresh panel has been put in place by the Police Service Commission. The panel will be headed by Barr. Tijani Mohammed, Director, Department of Police Discipline in the commission.

3. The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, was at the Abeokuta residence of the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday following the crisis rocking the party.

Secondus while addressing newsmen after the closed-door meeting said he visited Obasanjo to advise the present government and to tap from the former president’s wealth of experience.

4. Anambra 2021: INEC Finally Recognises Soludo As APGA Candidate
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has finally recognized the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Chukwuma Soludo, as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in the forthcoming Anambra election.

However, a High Court sitting in Owerri threw out Soludo’s suit and ruled in favor of Michael Chukwuma Umeoji as the governorship candidate of the party.

But in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, the spokesman of the commission, Festus Okoye, said the commission has now replaced Umeoji’s name with Soludo in the newly released governorship candidates list.

5. Kaduna State Government on Thursday said cholera has killed 132 persons from April to date across the 19 local government areas of the state. The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Mohammed Baloni, disclosed this at a news briefing while giving an update on the outbreak of the disease and other epidemics in the State.

6. What President Buhari Discussed With Security Chiefs In Aso Rock
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met with the various heads of Nigeria’s security agencies over rising cases of banditry and kidnappings.

Infoexpert24 reports that the meeting was held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (Rtd) stated that Buhari vowed not to exit the government as a failure in 2023. He disclosed that security chiefs briefed the president on the success recorded so far against insecurity.

7. Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, says Nigeria is winning the war against insurgency. Speaking when he featured on Focus Africa, a BBC program, Mohammed backed up his claim with the fact that insurgents have been surrendering to troops in recent times.

8. President Joe Biden has said that the Taliban have been cooperating with the US in terms of evacuating Americans in Afghanistan. In his first interview since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, Biden said that despite the cooperation in helping to get Americans out of the country, “we’re having some more difficulty” in evacuating US-aligned Afghan citizens.

9. Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has condemned the increasing cases of banditry in the country. He said it won’t surprise him if bandits and kidnappers apply for registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and seek a listing at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). Atiku spoke at the national dialogue and public presentation of a book, “Remaking Nigeria: Sixty years, sixty voices,” in Abuja.

10. The House of Representatives has expressed displeasure over the way some government agencies conceal their revenues, thereby denying the Federal Government the fund for budgeting. James Faleke, the Chairman of, House Committee on Finance, raised the concerns at the ongoing public hearing on 2022 to 2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) on Thursday in Abuja.
