Some Nigerians on social media today are elated and has expressed their joy when reports of 2 SARS operatives being captured and killed by unknown men hits the social spheres.
The pervasive use of torture and other ill treatment by SARS officers and the continuos brutality of innocent Nigerians by the SARS operatives points to an absolute disregard for international human rights laws and standards which has in so many ways affected innocent Nigerians
Reports from Port Harcourt reveals that operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, (SARS), a division of the Nigeria Police Force, were attacked, with cars burnt, and two of them killed in Oyigbo Rivers state, Nigeria.
Over the past few years, SARS officers have received condemnations from Nigerians for going after suspected internet fraudsters—locally called Yahoo Boys and innocent Nigerians rather than spending more time to investigate cases of armed robbery and other forms of vices in the society.
It would be recalled that the activity of these men have been a cause for concern for many Nigerian youths who have complained about their unscrupulous activities and how they have disregarded fundamental human rights to illegally arrest, beaten and detain Nigerians for one weird reason or the other.
SARS officers are infamous for unlawful killings and torture of innocent citizens.These experiences by thousands of Nigerians with the SARS have been quite sad, and there has been series of campaign aimed at Nigerians coming together to lend our voice to STOP POLICE BRUTALITY in Nigeria. But with the news emanating from Rivers State, Nigerians have expressed their satisfaction at the unfortunate incident that has claimed the life of two officers,
