Saka, Jesus, Nelson, Smith Rowe: Arsenal Injury News Ahead Of Tottenham Clash

Arsenal takes on Tottenham today in what pundits dubbed as feisty North London Derby and Infoexpert24 presents you with all Gunner’s injury news and return dates ahead of the clash.

Arsenal sit top of the Premier League table with 14 wins out of 17 and could potentially extend their lead with title rivals Manchester City losing to Manchester United on Saturday.

While a huge boost has been handed to the Gunners with City’s latest result, a significant blow has been suffered off the pitch as Arsenal’s main transfer target Mykhaylo Mudryk looks set to join Chelsea.

Losing out on the player the Gunners have been frantically chasing for weeks may mean a fresh look into the attacking options available in the market is needed.

The injury problems Arteta is facing are minimal but they are mostly in the frontline with Gabriel Jesus and Reiss Nelson still out.

Emile Smith Rowe has only just made his return after four months out and there are doubts of Bukayo Saka’s fitness ahead of the clash against Tottenham

Arsenal injury news and return dates from Emirates Stadium ahead of North London Derby today.

Emile Smith Rowe

Smith Rowe has been out for a considerable length of time. However, Arteta included the Englishman on the bench for the match against Oxford and he came on in the 75th minute.

The 22-year-old has not suffered an injury setback after being pictured in training this week ahead of a Premier League clash with Tottenham.

What Arteta has said: “It was great to have him back. It’s his first minutes after four months. He worked so hard to be in the position that he’s in today and now we need to give him more minutes in the team because he’s a very important player for us.”

The former Man City man has been keen to update Arsenal fans on his injury rehabilitation and posted last week that he no longer needed crutches. The striker has posted another encouraging update on his recovery that offers a more insightful view.

Expected return date: February / March 2023.

What Arteta has said: “He’s progressing really well, he’s working really hear, he’s in the right place in terms of the time that we set for him, but he’s still a bit far.

“I’d like to see him very quickly but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. We’re gonna have to be patient with that one. But let’s see. It’s a complicated surgery, in any surgery there are always a lot of things were you have to be cautious He’s a player that’s going to push to be really fast on the pitch.”

Bukayo Saka

Bukayo Saka was substituted with 15 minutes to go in the second half against Oxford on Monday evening after Saka went down with an injury in the 75th minute.

However, signs were positive concerning his injury as he was able to walk around the pitch and back to the bench as Smith Rowe was introduced, highlighting that Arteta may be taking precautions with the youngster.

Saka was a noticeable absentee from the training photos uploaded by Arsenal on Friday, but the Spaniard has indicated his first-choice right-winger is available.

Expected return date: Tottenham (A) January 15.

What Arteta said: “I think he will be OK.”

Reiss Nelson

The extent of Nelson’s hamstring injury is currently unknown, but Arteta admitted after the friendly with Juventus that it could be problematic.

What Arteta has said: “We don’t know the extent of the injury. The fact that he had to leave the pitch straight away is not good news, especially with someone like Reiss who is really powerful and fast. Let’s see what will happen. We know what we have to do and that doesn’t change the plans [for the transfer window].”
