Sad As Chelsea Will Likely Lose Jorginho And N’Golo Kante To Barcelona
Chelsea might lose their midfielders Jorginho and N’Golo Kante to Barcelona as the Italian’s agent, Joao Santos, was seen in the Catalan club, according to reports.
Infoexpert24 reports that both Jorginho and Kante are out of contract at Stamford Bridge next summer and will be free to talk with other clubs starting in January.
There’s renewed emphasis and focus from the new owners on investing in younger players and the next generation. And that makes the futures of players like Jorginho and N’Golo Kanté far from assured at the club, especially as they now have just eight months left on their contracts.

One of those clubs, unsurprisingly, will be Barcelona. The Spanish giant already picked up Andreas Christensen and Marcos Alonso from Chelsea this season, for free or essentially free, and was close to doing so with César Azpilicueta as well before he ended up staying and signing a new contract. Real Madrid, who got Antonio Rüdiger for free from us in the summer, could be right behind them.
Both Jorginho and Kanté when fit have remained first-team regulars under multiple head coaches, and have become practically synonymous with Chelsea, but they are both over 30 at this point and perhaps it is indeed time for a changing of the midfield guard, especially with Kanté’s injuries making for an increasingly frustrating situation.
Kanté has reportedly already rejected an extension, while Jorginho’s agent is starting to pop up in various parts of the world as if he were Carmen Sandiego.
He wouldn’t be short of suitors, and one of the clubs that hold a concrete interest is Barca.

There may also already be contact between Jorginho’s camp and Barca ahead of a potential summer 2023 move. Barca has utilized the free-agent market in recent seasons.
A number of top stars from across Europe have landed at Camp Nou without Barca paying a transfer fee.
Barca also pulled off one of the transfers of the season when they snapped up Franck Kessie for free after his contract at AC Milan expired.
Director of football, Mateu Alemany, says the club will continue to focus on the free transfer market going forward amid reports legend Lionel Messi could return next summer when his deal at Paris Saint-Germain expires.
