The ex-Manchester United star, 37, is yet to return to domestic action after seeing his Old Trafford contract mutually terminated last month. In a tumultuous interview with Talk TV host Piers Morgan, Ronaldo attacked club officials for “betraying him” during the transfer window whilst also taking aim at United boss Erik ten Hag, for whom he stated he has “no respect”.
Portugal’s record goalscorer was actively pursuing an exit in the summer to try and extend his Champions League legacy. Ronaldo had played in Europe’s elite competition for 19 consecutive seasons prior to the 2022/23 campaign, but Chelsea, Barcelona, Napoli and Atletico Madrid all rejected the chance to sign him.

Following his release from Man Utd, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner had been training with former club Real Madrid in an attempt to retain his match sharpness but, despite an injury to star man Karim Benzema, the La Liga champions have not offered Ronaldo a permanent deal.
Still seemingly unable to find a Champions League suitor, Ronaldo now looks set to head over to the Middle East on a permanent basis. Spanish outlet Marca report Saudi Pro leaders Al-Nassr are set to offer him an eye-watering £175m-a-year deal. The seven-season contract would see him play until the end of the 2024/25 campaign and then take up an ambassadorial role for the remainder of his deal.
Part of his role behind the scenes will be to help promote the Arab country for their joint 2030 World Cup bid, alongside Greece and neighbours Egypt. Ronaldo and family are currently residing in Dubai until a final agreement is reached with the report stating that could be as soon as today.

Man Utd thanked Ronaldo for his services to the club with a brief farewell in their matchday programme.
It read: “The Portuguese superstar scored 145 goals across two spells and 436 appearances, and helped us win three Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups, the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Ronaldo was also crowned Ballon d’Or winner in 2008.
“In a statement on November 22, the club put on record its gratitude for Cristiano’s immense contribution and wished him and his family well for the future.”
