“Once a Gooner” – Arsenal Fans Hails Harry Kane After Admitting He Was Desperate To Beat Man City

Gunners fans think Harry Kane finally showed off his true colors as an Arsenal supporter after admitting his desperation to beat Manchester City.

Kane scored the only goal of the game to beat City at home on Sunday, tucking away a 15th-minute chance clinically. In doing so, he became Spurs’ all-time leading goal-scorer with 267 strikes.

The Tottenham captain’s goal also helps Arsenal who celebrated maintaining their five-point lead and game in hand over City atop the Premier League table.

And they even joked that the Englishman was secretly rooting for the Gunners after demonstrating his joy in his post-match interview.

Kane told Sky Sports: “It’s hard to put into words and I’m so glad it came in a win.

“We worked so hard to keep a clean sheet. It was so special to do it in front of the fans. There has been so much talk about it in the last couple of weeks and to do it in such a big game is even more special.

“It is a great feeling. When I started playing regularly it wasn’t even in my imagination to score 200 Premier League goals and I have a few more years left so hopefully there are more to come.

“[Jimmy Greaves] is a complete hero, one of the best strikers to play the game so to be in that conversation is special. And to overtake him is a huge moment for me.”

Arsenal supporters quickly reacted to his comments by tweeting: “True Arsenal fan” and “always a Gunner.”

Others added: “He’s happy he’s helping Arsenal” and “Once a Gooner…”

Another fan says: So this guy had the absolute priceless privilege of watching these immortals do it at Highbury, and in fulll true Gooner regalia only to go and convince himself that he’s a Spurs fan? 😏😆 yea GTFOH Harry

The comments alluded to Kane being a former Arsenal academy player as a child, before he was released for being “chubby and not athletic”, according to Gunners legend Liam Brady.

Footage of Kane celebrating Arsenal’s title win at Highbury during the 2003/04 season also emerged on social media after Sunday’s game.

In footage captured by TV cameras, a young Kane could be seen clapping the Arsenal Invincibles as they thanked fans for their support. The title victory in question was also the last time the Gunners celebrated winning the league as they eye glory again under Mikel Arteta.
