Netflix may soon offer free access to its content for a weekend as part of a testing

Despite lockdown, Netflix seems to be struggling to attract Indian users to watch its content.

Netflix witnessed a slow growth in the last quarter in India so, to expand its reach, the streaming giant is planning to offer users a free trial of its service for a weekend in the country.

This will be a test, which will be in place on a temporary basis. But, we don’t know yet when exactly the company will provide the weekend trial.

Chief Product Officer (CPO) at Netflix during the company’s third-quarter earnings call said that the company “think giving everyone in country access to Netflix for free for a weekend could be a great way to expose a bunch of new people to the amazing stories that we have, the service, how the service works, really create an event, and hopefully get a bunch of those folks to sign up.”

Despite lockdown, Netflix seems to be still struggling to attract Indian users to watch its content. This strategy will give Indian users a taste of its vast range of shows, movies and web series and may increase the chances of people signing up for a subscription plan.

Netflix subscription plan starts at Rs. 199 and goes up to Rs. 799 per month. You can watch its content on a phone, tablet, Smart TV, laptop, or streaming device, depending upon your plan.
